About Jacksonia thesioides A.Cunn. ex Benth.

Jacksonia thesioides A.Cunn. ex Benth. is an erect to prostrate shrub, with a coarse to slender growth form. It typically reaches 0.1โ€“4 m (3.9 in โ€“ 13 ft 1.5 in) in height and 1โ€“3 m (3 ft 3 in โ€“ 9 ft 10 in) in width. Its main branches are dull green, while the terminal branches are sharply pointed cladodes. The leaves of this species are reduced to dark brown, egg-shaped scales; these scales measure 0.8โ€“1.6 mm (0.031โ€“0.063 in) long, 0.4โ€“1 mm (0.016โ€“0.039 in) wide, and end in a sharply pointed tip. Flowers are arranged sparsely along the branches, and grow on pedicels 1.1โ€“1.5 mm (0.043โ€“0.059 in) long. Below the sepals are egg-shaped bracteoles that measure 0.7โ€“1.0 mm (0.028โ€“0.039 in) long and 0.2โ€“0.6 mm (0.0079โ€“0.0236 in) wide. The ribbed floral tube is 0.8โ€“1.5 mm (0.031โ€“0.059 in) long. The sepals are membranous; their upper lobes are 2.1โ€“2.3 mm (0.083โ€“0.091 in) long and 0.9โ€“1.0 mm (0.035โ€“0.039 in) wide, and are fused for a length of 1.1โ€“1.9 mm (0.043โ€“0.075 in). Flower petals range in color from hot pink to mauve. The standard petal measures 2.2โ€“4.1 mm (0.087โ€“0.161 in) long and 3โ€“4.8 mm (0.12โ€“0.19 in) deep, the wing petals are 3.5โ€“4.0 mm (0.14โ€“0.16 in) long, and the keel petal is 2.9โ€“3.5 mm (0.11โ€“0.14 in) long. The stamens have green filaments that are 1.3โ€“3.1 mm (0.051โ€“0.122 in) long. This species flowers year-round. Its fruit is a woody, elliptic, densely hairy pod that measures 4.0โ€“5.5 mm (0.16โ€“0.22 in) long and 1.8โ€“2.7 mm (0.071โ€“0.106 in) wide. This Jacksonia species grows in woodland with sandy soil developed over granite or sandstone. Its distribution covers north-eastern Queensland, extends south to Townsville, and also includes the Torres Strait Islands.
