The spotted tanager, scientifically named Ixothraupis punctata (originally described by Linnaeus in 1766), is a bird species that belongs to the tanager family Thraupidae. It can be found in Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
