This species is native to Cambodia, Southeast China, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. It has also been introduced to Bangladesh, the Caroline Islands, Colombia, Malaya, and the Marianas Islands. Ixora chinensis is a shrub that grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.
