Iva asperifolia, commonly known as Pensacola marsh elder, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is native to the south-central United States, where it grows in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana. It has also become naturalized in additional U.S. states including Florida, Missouri, and Indiana. This plant has additionally been recorded growing in the state of Veracruz, located in eastern Mexico. Iva asperifolia is a wind-pollinated herb that can reach up to 30 centimeters, or 1 foot, in height. It produces lance-linear leaves, and bears many small nodding, or hanging, flower heads arranged in elongated clusters. Each individual flower head contains only a few small flowers.
