About Isoxya tabulata (Thorell, 1859)
Isoxya tabulata (Thorell, 1859) is a species of spider in the family Araneidae. It occurs across Africa, and is commonly called the yellow Isoxya box kite spider.
This species has been recorded in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Tanzania, Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, and Eswatini. Within South Africa, it has been documented in Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, North West, and Western Cape.
Isoxya tabulata has been sampled from Forest, Grassland, Indian Ocean Coastal Belt, Savanna, and Thicket biomes, at altitudes ranging from 1 to 1,399 meters above sea level. It has also been found in citrus orchards and tomato fields. Its webs are usually decorated with silk tufts. During the day, this spider can be found in large orb-webs that are typically built high between trees.
