About Isolepis fluitans (L.) R.Br.

Isolepis fluitans (L.) R.Br., commonly called floating scirpus, has the synonym Scirpus fluitans. It is a species of flowering plant belonging to the sedge family. Its native range includes Africa, Australasia, Europe, and Pacific islands. This species was first formally described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753. Botanist Robert Brown later transferred it to the Isolepis genus in 1810. The species epithet fluitans is Latin, meaning floating.
