About Ismene amancaes (Ruiz & Pav.) Herb.
Ismene amancaes (Ruiz & Pav.) Herb. is a bulb-forming plant species. It produces spherical bulbs that measure 3.5 to 5 cm in diameter. Its leaves are bright green, strap-shaped, 25 to 50 cm long, and 2.5 to 5 cm wide. Between 2 and 6 yellow, pedicellate flowers grow at the tip of a scape that can reach up to 33 cm in length. The floral tube is greenish yellow and 5 to 7.5 cm long, with tepals at its end. These tepals are linear to narrowly lanceolate, 6 to 7.5 cm long, and have green tips. The plant's floral corona is funnel-shaped, yellow with green stripes, 5 to 6 cm long, and 6 to 8.5 cm wide, with inward-facing stamens attached to it. This species is endemic to Peru. It grows on coastal hills up to 1500 m in elevation, particularly near the city of Lima, where it occurs as a member of the lomas ecosystem.
