About Irura bidenticulata Guo, Zhang & Zhu, 2011
This species, commonly called the purple-gold jumping spider, typically has a body length of 5โ6 mm (0.20โ0.24 in). It displays sexual dimorphism. Most females have an almost entirely solid gold pigmentation, though some may show a muted brown pattern similar to that of males. Males are recognizable by their striking reflective purple-pink and gold patterned trichobothria. The distinctive purple pattern on males' abdomens is often described as "a snow angel wearing a tophat", and this pattern surrounded by gold coloration is consistent across individuals. In contrast, the purple-gold pattern on the top of the head and the appearance of the pedipalps often vary slightly between individual males. The chelicerae, and the base of the spider's extremities, are occasionally tipped in black.
