About Iris hartwegii Baker

Iris hartwegii Baker, commonly known as foothill iris, rainbow iris, Sierra iris, and Hartweg's iris, is an iris species endemic to California. In California, it grows on low-elevation mountain slopes in the state's central counties. It produces one to three flowers per slender stem; the flowers can range in color from shades of purple and yellow to almost white, and feature lavender veining. While three to five subspecies were previously recognized for this species, these are now classified as synonyms.
