About Iridopsis defectaria (Guenée)

This moth species, currently known by the scientific name Iridopsis defectaria (Guenée), is also referenced under the synonym Anacamptodes defectaria, and has the common name brown-shaded gray moth. It belongs to the moth family Geometridae. Its distribution range covers areas from Pennsylvania west to Iowa and Kansas, south to Texas, and extending south and east to Florida. The wingspan of adults is around 30 millimeters. Depending on the location, adults can be seen in flight from February through November. Its larvae feed on the leaves of oak, poplar, sweet cherry, and willow plants.
