Currently, this taxon is classified as the form Iresine diffusa f. lindenii, belonging to Iresine diffusa (Juba's bush), a plant species in the family Amaranthaceae. This form is commercially sold for use as an ornamental plant. In Peru, it has a folk use for treating ovary inflammation.
