About Ipimorpha retusa (Linnaeus, 1761)

Technical description and variation for Ipimorpha retusa (Linnaeus, 1761), also referenced as I. retusa L. (= vetula Hbn.) (46 h): Forewings are olive brown, dusted with whitish. Inner and outer lines are fine, nearly straight, parallel to each other, slightly oblique inwards, and pale-edged. The subterminal marking is irregular and pale, with a darker shade beyond it. Stigmata are darker and pale-edged; the reniform stigma sits on a darker median shade. Hindwings are fuscous, with a whitish fringe. The form gracilis Haw. (= curvata Btlr.) is a redder variant of the species. Larvae are pale green, with a broad white dorsal line, two slender white subdorsal lines, and a white, waved spiracular line. The larval head is either green or dark brown. The species has a wingspan of 28–32 mm.
