About Indothemis limbata (Selys, 1891)

Indothemis limbata is a small dragonfly species. Males are primarily black with yellow markings: their eyes and thorax are black, and their black abdomen bears yellow spots that become obscured by bluish pruinescence in fully mature adults. The bases of their wings are dark, while the wing tips are narrowly black; the wings are transparent in the subspecies I. l. sita. Both males and females have dark anal appendages. Females differ in appearance: they have brown eyes, a yellow thorax marked with black, amber-yellow wing bases, and a black abdomen marked with yellow spots extending up to segment 8. This dragonfly breeds in ponds and lakes that are densely grown with aquatic weeds.
