About Incisalia niphon (Hübner, 1823)

This species is similar to the western pine elfin, but differs by having two dark bars instead of one in the forewing underside cell, and it has strong patterning on the underside. Its wingspan measures between 22 and 27 mm (0.87 to 1.06 inches). The species ranges across most of the eastern United States and the southern portions of Canadian provinces. Within this distribution, it typically occupies sandy areas that contain pine trees.
