About Impatiens platypetala Lindl.

Impatiens platypetala Lindl. is a variable species of perennial Impatiens. It was first discovered on the island of Java and is widespread across Indonesia. This plant grows to 1 meter (3.3 feet) in height, and bears bright orange flowers with a white center marking called a white eye. Its leaves range in shape from ovate to lanceolate-ovate, and are 5 to 12 centimeters (2.0 to 4.7 inches) in length. Impatiens platypetala produces the anthocyanin compound aurantinidin.
