About Impatiens noli-tangere L.
Impatiens noli-tangere L., commonly known as touch-me-not balsam, is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the family Balsaminaceae. Its scientific name comes from Latin terms: impatiēns means 'impatient' or 'not allowing', while nōlī tangere translates directly to 'do not touch' (literally 'be unwilling to touch'). This species grows in damp habitats across Europe, Asia, and North America. It produces yellow flowers, which develop into ripe seed pods that burst open forcefully to eject their seeds some distance away. Other common names for this plant include touch-me-not, yellow balsam, jewelweed, western touch-me-not, and wild balsam.
