About Iliamna remota Greene

Iliamna remota Greene is a herbaceous perennial flowering plant that grows between 1 meter (3 feet 3 inches) and 2.5 meters (8 feet 2 inches) tall. It produces a greyish-green, densely hairy stem, and bears alternate, palmately-lobed leaves. The upper surface of these leaves is medium green and smooth, while the undersides are greyish-green and covered in fine hairs. Large flowers grow in the axils of the leaves, either singly or in groups of up to three, and their color ranges from white to lavender. Between two and eight stems can grow from a single root crown. Its roots are typically shallow, and form long, dense, fibrous tangles. New growth usually begins in March, flowering occurs anywhere from July to August, and seeds are eventually dispersed in September. New colonies sometimes develop from rhizomes.
