About Idia rotundalis Walker, 1866

Idia rotundalis, commonly known as the chocolate idia or rotund idia moth, is a species of litter moth in the family Erebidae. This species was first formally described by Francis Walker in 1866. Its distribution ranges from southern Canada, through the United States, to Florida and Texas. The wingspan of adult Idia rotundalis measures approximately 20 mm. Populations in the northern part of its range produce one generation per year, while populations in the southern part produce two or more generations per year. The larvae of this moth feed on detritus, including dead leaves.
