About Idia forbesii French, 1894

Idia forbesii, commonly known as Forbes' idia moth, is a species of litter moth in the family Erebidae. It was first formally described by George Hazen French in 1894. This moth is found in North America, ranging from Wisconsin to Quebec in the north, and extending south to Florida and Texas. The wingspan of Idia forbesii measures approximately 17 mm. Populations in the northern part of its range have one generation per year, while populations in the southern part have multiple generations each year. The larvae of this species feed on detritus, including dead leaves.
