It has a wingspan ranging from 16 to 19 mm, and the length of its forewings measures between 8 and 10 mm. In Britain, adult moths fly at night from June to July. Flight season information given here refers specifically to the British Isles, and the timing may differ in other parts of the species' range. In England and the Netherlands, Idaea inquinata is a rare introduced species. It likely arrived in these countries via imported dried flowers and herbs.
