About Idaea aureolaria (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775

Idaea aureolaria (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) is a species of moth belonging to the family Geometridae. This moth is distributed from Spain and France, through central Europe, to the Balkan Peninsula, and extends eastward into Siberia. It is also found across the region from Turkey to Central Asia. For males of the species, the wingspan measures 16–20 millimetres, which is 0.63–0.79 inches; for females, the wingspan is 14–19 millimetres, equal to 0.55–0.75 inches. Adult moths are most commonly on wing during the months of June and July, though a second generation of adults may occur, flying from August to September. The larvae of Idaea aureolaria are polyphagous, and have been recorded feeding on Rumex, Onobrychis, Securigera varia, and Vicia dumetorum. This species overwinters in its larval stage.
