Hyptis capitata Jacq., commonly called false ironwort or knobweed, is an erect annual shrub species in the plant family Lamiaceae. It is native to Florida, Mexico, Central America, the West Indies, and South America, and has become naturalized in Australia, Southeast Asia, and some tropical islands. Individuals of this species can grow up to 1.5 meters tall. Crushed leaves of this plant are applied to cuts, and it is classified as a weed in many regions.
