About Hyppa rectilinea (Esper, 1788)
Technical description and variation: The wingspan of Hyppa rectilinea ranges from 33 to 41 mm. The forewing is brown, with basal and terminal areas mixed with white towards the costa. The median space is darker, and reddish below the middle. A thick black streak extends from the base below the cell; below this streak, the basal area is darker. The inner and outer lines are black, edged with white on their opposite sides. The inner line is angled on the submedian fold, while the outer line has a white patch before it on the same fold. A black bar runs along this fold between the two lines. The upper stigmata are large, mixed with white, edged with black, and the orbicular stigma is flattened. The subterminal line is whitish, with black teeth below the middle; above the middle, it is marked by black subterminal dashes between the veins. The hindwing is brownish, and paler towards the base.
