About Hypospila bolinoides Guenée, 1852

The wingspan of Hypospila bolinoides Guenée, 1852 ranges from 36 to 44 mm. Males have ciliated antennae. The cell of the hindwings is short, veins 7 and 8 are distorted, and vein 6 branches off below the angle of the cell. The body is a much darker red-brown. Palpi are black with white tips. On the forewings, the reniform marking is reduced to a pale speck. The postmedial line of the forewings is less oblique, originates from the costa before the apex, and is not angled. The hindwings have a straight postmedial line. Larvae of this species feed on the young leaves of Derris species. When disturbed, larvae drop to the ground or jump off their host leaf.
