Hyponephele lupinus (originally published by Costa in 1836; commonly misspelled as Hyponephele lupina) is a butterfly species known by the common names Oriental meadow brown or branded meadowbrown. It belongs to the butterfly family Nymphalidae. This species is found across North Africa, southwestern Europe, southern Russia, Asia Minor, southern Siberia, Middle Asia, Iran, and the region from Baluchistan to Nepal.
