About Hyperthelia dissoluta (Nees ex Steud.) Clayton

Hyperthelia dissoluta, commonly known as yellow thatching grass, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the grass family Poaceae. It is native to Sub‑Saharan Africa and Madagascar. The species has been introduced to Mexico, Central America, Colombia, and Brazil. Its palatability to livestock drops sharply as the plant matures, and it acts as a very aggressive competitor. As a result, it has gained a negative reputation among ranchers.
