About Hypericum lloydii (Svenson) P.B.Adams

Hypericum lloydii, commonly called Lloyd's St. John's-wort or sandhill St. John's wort, is a flowering plant species in the St. John's wort family, Hypericaceae. It is native to the Southeastern United States, where it occurs mainly in the lower Piedmont and inner Coastal Plain. Its natural habitat consists of dry open areas, including sandhills and granite flatrocks. H. lloydii is a low, straggling, mat-forming shrub. It has narrowly linear leaves that grow up to 25 mm (1 inch) long. In summer, it produces relatively small yellow flowers that measure 12–14 mm (0.5–0.6 inches) across.
