About Hypericum gymnanthum Engelm. & A.Gray
Hypericum gymnanthum Engelm. & A.Gray grows between 0.3 and 1 meters (about 1 to 3 feet) tall. Its flowers are yellow, with five petals each measuring 3 to 6 millimeters long. The lower leaves of this plant are notably smaller than the upper leaves; the upper leaves are 1.5 centimeters long and 1 centimeter wide. This species is native to a range covering the eastern United States, extending from Florida to New York, and also grows naturally in Guatemala. It has been introduced to Poland. It is most often found in wet habitats, including sinkhole ponds, wet pine flatwoods, bogs, swales, and pine savannas. The United States Department of Agriculture classifies Hypericum gymnanthum as a facultative wetland species.
