Hypericum cistifolium Lam. is a shrub that reaches a height between 0.2 and 0.9 meters. It bears simple, opposite, sessile leaves with entire margins, and the leaves range in shape from oblong to lanceolate. This plant produces yellow flowers that have 5 petals, and its flowering season runs from June to August. In terms of distribution and habitat, Hypericum cistifolium occurs from eastern North Carolina southward to South Florida, and westward to eastern Texas. It grows in pine savannas and wet pine flatwoods.
