This moth can be found in Texas, southern Arizona, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Males of Hypercompe caudata have a wingspan of 56 mm, while females have a larger wingspan of 86 mm. Adult moths of this species are active and recorded in flight during January, April, October, and November.
