About Hypena obesalis Treitschke, 1829

Hypena obesalis, originally recorded as B. obesalis Tr. by Treitschke in 1829, shows the following technical description and variation. The adult moth's ground color is light ochreous, never white or grey. The inner line becomes indistinct below the median vein. The outer line curves vertically outward from the subcostal vein to the median vein, with two smaller curves below this section. The larva is grass green, with yellow segmental incisions, a grey dorsum, and slender, white lateral lines. Its spiracles are orange. The wingspan of this species is approximately 40 mm.
