About Hypagyrtis esther (Barnes, 1928)
Hypagyrtis esther, commonly known as the esther moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. It was first formally described by William Barnes in 1928. In the United States, its distribution ranges from Massachusetts south to Florida, west to Texas, and north to Ohio. The wingspan of this species measures between 25 and 45 mm. Adults are in flight from May to October across most of its range, while in Ohio the flight period occurs from July to August. Larvae of the esther moth feed on the leaves of pine (Pinus) species.
