About Hymenothrix wrightii A.Gray
Hymenothrix wrightii, which has the common names Wright's hymenothrix and Wright's thimblehead, is a North American flowering plant species that belongs to the daisy family. This species grows in northwestern Mexico, specifically in the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, and Baja California, and also in the southwestern United States, where it occurs in western Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and far southern California. Hymenothrix wrightii is a perennial herb that can grow up to 60 cm (2 feet) in height. A single individual produces 6 to 8 flower heads per stem, arranged in a flat-topped cluster. Each flower head holds 15 to 30 disc flowers that can be white, pink, or pale purple, and it does not produce any ray flowers. The individual disc flowers of this species are larger and more showy than those of many other species in the daisy family.
