About Hymenocallis rotata (Ker Gawl.) Herb.

Hymenocallis rotata, commonly known as streambank spiderlily or springrun spiderlily, is a member of the Amaryllidaceae plant family. This species is endemic exclusively to north-central regions of the U.S. state of Florida, where it grows along the banks of spring-fed streams. It is a perennial herb that grows from rhizomatous bulbs, and produces showy flowers that bloom in late spring and early summer. Within its genus, Hymenocallis rotata can be distinguished by the unique shape of its staminal corona: it is rotate, rather than the more common funnel-shaped. The staminal corona is white, with a yellow-green eye located near its center.
