About Hylotelephium anacampseros (L.) H.Ohba
Hylotelephium anacampseros (L.) H.Ohba is a succulent perennial plant. It grows from thick, woody underground stems, and produces two types of above-ground growth: erect flowering stems, and sterile shoots that end in a tuft of leaves. Mature plants reach 10 to 30 cm in total height. Its alternate leaves measure 12–30 mm long and 5–12 mm wide. The leaves are rounded to spatulate in shape, have entire margins and obtuse apexes, are narrowed at the base, are sessile, fleshy, and colored glaucous green. Flowers are arranged in spherical, compressed cymes that resemble corymbs. Each flower has 5–6 obtuse petals 8–12 mm long; petals are red or purple on the upper side, and lilac with a green keel on the underside. Flowers also have 5–6 acute sepals 4 mm long. This species is native to southwestern Europe. It grows in sunny, rocky habitats with siliceous soil, at elevations between 1000 and 2700 m above sea level. As a perennial species, Hylotelephium anacampseros flowers from June to August.
