About Hylogomphus parvidens (Currie, 1917)
Hylogomphus parvidens, commonly called the Piedmont clubtail, is a species of clubtail dragonfly that belongs to the family Gomphidae. This species is found in the southeastern United States. Until recently, Hylogomphus parvidens was classified as a member of the genus Gomphus. In 2017, the taxon Hylogomphus was elevated from subgenus to full genus rank, and this species was moved to the genus Hylogomphus. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) currently lists the conservation status of Hylogomphus parvidens as "LC", meaning least concern. There are no immediate threats to the survival of this species, and its population is stable. The IUCN conservation status assessment for this species was most recently reviewed in 2018. Past assessments of its conservation status include being rated "rare" from 1986 to 1994, "lower risk / near threatened" in 1996, and "least concern" in both 2006 and 2017.
