About Houstonia caerulea L.

Houstonia caerulea L. is a perennial herb that produces showy flowers around 1 cm (0.39 in) across. Its flowers have four parts, with pale blue petals and a yellow center. Foliage forms a basal rosette of spatula-shaped leaves. Stems grow up to 20 cm (7.9 in) tall, with one flower per stalk. Leaves are simple and arranged oppositely, with two leaves growing at each node along the stem. This species thrives in moist acidic soils in shady areas, and grows especially well among grasses.
