Hordelymus is a genus of plants in the grass family, native to Europe, North Africa, and southwestern Asia. The only known species in this genus is Hordelymus europaeus. This species is native to Europe, ranging from Sweden and Ireland to Spain, Italy, and Russia; it is also found in North Africa (Algeria and Morocco) and southwestern Asia (Turkey and the Caucasus). A common name for Hordelymus europaeus is wood-barley. Species that were formerly included in the Hordelymus genus have been reclassified: both Hordelymus asper and Hordelymus caput-medusae are now classified as Taeniatherum caput-medusae.
