About Holmbergia tweedii (Moq.) Hicken ex Speg.
Holmbergia is a monotypic genus of flowering plants in the Amaranthaceae family, containing only one species, Holmbergia tweedii (Moq.) Hicken ex Speg. This species is native to southern South America, where it occurs in Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina. The genus name Holmbergia honors Eduardo Ladislao Holmberg (1775–1862), an Argentine natural historian, novelist, and leading figure in Argentine biology. The specific epithet tweedii is named after botanist John (James) Tweedie (1900-1989). The genus Holmbergia was first described and published in 1909 in Apuntes Hist. Nat. Volume 1, on page 65.
