About Hippotion scrofa Boisduval, 1832

Description: Hippotion scrofa has a wingspan of approximately 70 millimeters. It closely resembles Hippotion brennus and Hippotion joiceyi, but can be clearly distinguished from both. It differs from Hippotion brennus by the absence of paired subdorsal white spots on the abdomen, and it differs from Hippotion joiceyi by the absence of a dorsal white median line on the thorax. Distribution: This species occurs in Australia, New Caledonia, and Vanuatu.
