Himantoglossum caprinum (M.Bieb.) Spreng. is an orchid species native to southeastern Europe and the Middle East. Two subspecies are currently recognized. The first, Himantoglossum caprinum subsp. caprinum, is found in Crete and other Greek Islands, Crimea, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Palestine, Israel, and Bulgaria. The second, Himantoglossum caprinum subsp. rumelicum H.Baumann & R.Lorenz, occurs in the Czech Republic, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, Crimea, North Caucasus, Turkey, Palestine, and Israel.
