Hieracium sabaudum L. is commonly known as New England hawkweed, European hawkweed, or Savoy hawkweed. It is a European plant species belonging to the tribe Cichorieae, family Asteraceae. The species is native to Europe, but has become naturalized in parts of North America. In Canada, it grows in British Columbia, Québec, and Nova Scotia. In the United States, it has been recorded in Washington state in the Northwest, Wisconsin, and the Northeast region ranging from Maine to Ohio. Hieracium sabaudum is classified as a noxious weed in Washington state. This plant grows in fields, roadsides, and forests, most often in well-drained soil.
