About Heuchera caroliniana (Rosend., Butters & Lakela) E.F.Wells

Heuchera caroliniana, commonly called Carolina alumroot, is a flowering plant species in the Saxifragaceae family. It is native to the United States states of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This species was split from Heuchera americana, which it strongly resembles. Heuchera caroliniana occurs in the northwestern and west-central Piedmont, an area where H. americana is mostly absent. It grows in rich upland woods on base-saturated substrates, as well as on basic dikes and basic rock outcroppings.
