About Heteropoda venatoria (Linnaeus, 1767)
Scientific name: Heteropoda venatoria (Linnaeus, 1767). Adult Heteropoda venatoria have flat brown bodies measuring 2.2 to 2.8 cm (0.87 to 1.10 in) long, with leg spans ranging from 7 to 10 cm (2.8 to 3.9 in). Females are often slightly larger than males, especially in abdominal size. Males, in contrast, have longer legs and larger tips on their pedipalps. The clypeus, the area located just in front of the eyes, is cream or yellowish. The carapace behind the eyes has a wide band that is typically tan in females and cream in males. The body of this spider is not very hairy, but its legs bear erectile setae, each of which is marked with a distinct black dot.
