About Hesperolinon micranthum (A.Gray) Small

Hesperolinon micranthum is a species of flowering plant in the flax family, commonly known as smallflower dwarf flax. It is native to the west coast of North America, ranging from Oregon to Baja California, and may also occur in Nevada. It grows in a variety of open habitats, most often on serpentine soils. This is a spindly annual herb that produces a very thin stem that reaches between 5 and 20 centimeters in height. Its small, sparse leaves have a linear shape. Its tiny flowers bear five petals each, which are white or white with pink veins and less than four millimeters long. The flowers also have protruding stamens that carry anthers that are white or purple in color.
