About Hericium coralloides (Scop.) Pers.
The fruiting body of Hericium coralloides (Scop.) Pers. measures 4โ18 centimetres (1+1โ2โ7 inches) across. It is whitish, heavily branched, and toothed, with both white flesh and a white spore print. This fungus is distributed across North America, Eurasia, and Australia, where it grows on dead hardwood trees. Fruiting occurs from July to October in eastern regions of its range, and from November to March in western regions. Hericium coralloides is edible, and is considered good when young. As it ages, its branches and hanging spines become brittle and turn a light yellowish brown shade.
