Herdmania grandis is a sea squirt species that belongs to the family Pyuridae. Camill Heller first scientifically described this species in 1878, originally naming it Cynthia grandis from a specimen collected at Port Jackson. This species has been both reclassified and redescribed numerous times, and the current accepted synonym classification for it is based on research published by Patricia Kott in 2002.
