Hemithea marina (Butler, 1878) is a small moth species with bluish-green wings. Its distinct dotted white fasciae are clearly visible, and the wing margins are greenish. The caterpillar stage is brownish pink, with blackish dorsal marks along the edges of its abdominal segments. The caterpillar's head is bifid, featuring conical lobes. Its body has a granular texture covered in tiny white conical tubercles, and small faint white and pink lines run along its lateral sides. This species pupates inside a cocoon constructed from debris. The caterpillars are polyphagous, and have been recorded feeding on species from the following genera: Acacia, Brassica, Citrus, Glycosmis, Hevea, Tephrosia, and on the species Lantana camara, Mangifera indica, and Memecylon.
