About Hemigomphus heteroclytus Selys, 1854
Hemigomphus heteroclytus, first described by Selys in 1854, is a species of dragonfly in the family Gomphidae. It is commonly known as the stout vicetail. This is a small, black and yellow dragonfly that is endemic to eastern Australia. It lives in streams that shrink to trickles during the summer season. Hemigomphus heteroclytus is similar in appearance to Hemigomphus gouldii, the southern vicetail, which is also found in eastern Australia.
