About Hemerocallis lilioasphodelus L.

Hemerocallis lilioasphodelus L., synonym Hemerocallis flava, is commonly known by common names including lemon daylily, lemon lily and yellow daylily. It is a species in the genus Hemerocallis. This plant occurs naturally in China, northeastern Italy, and Slovenia. It was one of the first daylily species used to breed new daylily cultivars. It grows in large, spreading clumps. Its leaves reach up to 75 cm (30 in) long. Each flowering scape produces between 3 and 9 sweetly fragrant, lemon-yellow flowers. The flowers of this species, along with the flowers of some other daylilies, are edible and used in both Chinese and Japanese cuisine.
